You Can

You Can

You can deny all you want to deny,

but that will never make things go away.

You can believe all you like to believe,

but it will never bring what isn’t there.

You can pray for all you wish to pray for,

but it will never make One hear your prayer,

—or even care.

You can say whatever you feel to say,

but know your words come with a price to pay.

You can lie upon lie in all you dare,

and bury the truth aside those who care.

But know! Our love, in time, will come to bear.

—alas, you’ve hoped for all your greed hoped for

when in the end, when all said and done for,

and you’ve lived your life for all that and more,

to the day you lay humbled on Death’s bed

—a troubled appeal lying in your head. . .

‘tho it’s too late to recall your regret

as these visions of crimes besiege your death debt.
