Earth

Earth. Our creator, our provider, our mother. Everything we have we owe to her. Everything. Still, I cannot restrain the profound contempt that stirs deep within me for her. Allowing a species existence that shows her nothing but scorn and mockery, for her creatures, for her creations. These humans, mother, these despicable life forms that spawn from your very bounty. So afraid to die but not to kill. So eager to take but not to give. How long, mother, how long will you tolerate your wayward children?

  1. Peter, what a perfect description you write of humans: “So afraid to die but not to kill.” I feel the Earth is an innocent victim of the monster species called “humans”. I feel extraordinary love for the Earth and her animals, trees, rivers, mountains, oceans, etc…. And utter contempt for the insane, evil species causing the destruction of it all. Fuck you goddammed humans.

  2. There’s even a name for it — The Antropocene — a geologic era that began about 15,000 years ago, but an era that didn’t rate as terracide until the Industrial Revolution. Ironically enough the smoking gun was fuel-fired, using pressurized subterranean fossil vegetation from the fifth extinction event.
Leave it to humans to get the job done in an über short fraction of geologic time. Yay, team, yay!

    1. Thank you, Bill, for introducing me to The Anthropocene. I would have said re-introduction, but it was too far removed from my memory to be of any use. The topic is in the book of John Livingston; a book I never finished reading though its title is in line with your last sentence, “… an uber short fraction of geologic time.” Livingston’s title is, ‘One Cosmic Instant, Man’s Fleeting Supremacy.’ I’ve mentioned the book here before. At some point, should I live long enough, I’ll finish reading it, it is interesting. Currently, however, I’m a fiction junkie, if you can imagine that.

      1. You are more than welcome, Peter! And profound thanks to you for bringing John Livingston to the stew pot here, particularly since the work you mention was published in one of my most formative years: 1973. I much look forward to obtaining a copy of “One Cosmic Instant” now. His thesis was profoundly prophetic — timeless and timely. He recognized it from that distant ’73. Exxon knew of global warming as early as 1977, but kept the information hidden, for some inexplicable reason. At the time Exxon was number one on the Fortune 500, but they were honorable men.
Fiction consistently reveals the truth beneath the countenance. H.G. Wells still out-thought the pundits of his time, and he out-thinks the pundits of ours.
BTW, I am also a fiction junkie 🙂

  3. I totally understand you being angry at Mother Earth for allowing a species that scorns, mocks, and destroys her creatures and creations. Earth could easily at any moment completely wipe out the human species with any number of natural disasters. The problem is, a natural disaster large enough to wipe out humanity would also kill many, many innocent beings (animals) and ecosystems along with it. Maybe that’s why she doesn’t do anything. But then again, I’m not so sure Earth is a conscious being. I use to believe it/she was… but have since strongly questioned that notion. Maybe Earth is nothing more than a chunk of rock, dirt, and water that just happens to be teeming with millions of species of conscious life forms. And maybe there is a scientific explanation for what caused one of the species (humanity) to become insane. I often daydream of quick solutions to finally end the suffering and destruction humans cause. But there doesn’t seem to be a God stopping it… or some super advanced aliens coming to Earth’s rescue… or some mysterious wave of special “energy” that sweeps the planet and suddenly enlightens human consciousness… or a conscious, living Earth that causes a natural disaster that ends the insanity and wipes the planet clean of its dangerous human parasite… No, none of that is happening. If something like any of that could happen, wouldn’t it have happened by now? The scope and magnitude of animal suffering caused by humans has been happening for a very long time, and is increasing every day. It seems that only humans can fix the problems they are causing… but unfortunately, the vast majority of humans don’t seem to have the ability, sanity, or intelligence to see what is happening and to turn it around.

Sorry for the long comment. Not many people I can discuss this kind of thing with… thanks to whoever reads this…

    1. Thank you for your comment, Spunky Bunny, I think it forthright. Quite so. There is no need to apologize for its length. It really isn’t that long, and it’s right to the matter at hand. And it complements the post, Earth.

  4. Powerful. Know how you feel. ‘Afraid to die but not to kill’- perfect, so absolutely true. It always astounds me the arrogance of so much of humanity, this blind belief that we are the ‘top’, all that bollocks, and then the hypocrisy and whining whenever things don’t go their way. I can’t feel a lot of sympathy. The vast majority of humanity disgusts me.
But I think it goes deeper, I think there is something deeply dark going on, deliberate and designed, to bring about this chaotic, dark world. The intentional stirring up, spreading and feeding of negative energy, to perpetuate this nightmare, tyrannical planet we see unfolding more every day; everything is connected to everything else, vibrationally, but people just cannot even begin to imagine what is happening. They can’t even ask questions and bear truths about the basic facts of life and how we live, there’s no way you can get them to listen to anything even more ‘insane’. They just don’t want to know. They call it ‘insane’, but taken a look at the world lately??? Scratch the surface and the rabbit hole goes very deep, but most people aren’t even aware there’s a surface to scratch.

    1. Exactly. There certainly is something dark, very dark going on. Dark and deliberate, as you say. It’s as if a spell were cast on humanity. And if not a magical spell, indeed one that plays on the minds and desires of the masses to such an inexplicable high level that its marketing technique can be considered nothing less than magic.

Thank you, outsidersinsides, for joining the discussion. It’s always good to hear from you.

      1. It is like magic isn’t it, the power of the influence?? I was just saying in a comment, about people being sucked in to the mainstream bullshit, unable to tear themselves away, unable and unwilling to find out anything for themselves, it is like they are bewitched, addicted, hypnotised and can’t break away. But they don’t want to listen to anything else. Don’t see they are part of the problem. It’s depressing and frustrating. ‘They’ have them just where they want them but they can’t begin to see it.
It’s always good to hear from you too, I have to connect on here to keep my sanity…..

  5. She must be like mothers everywhere. Mothers who can’t stop their children from doing the wrong things over and over again. That’s the only reason I can think of, for not getting rid of all of us. Admittedly, I feel that she’s making the wrong choice by allowing us to live.
